Bob Marley once said, “One good thing about music, when it hits you, you feel no pain.”

Music is connected to every person in some way. Music makes people feel good. Huffington Post confirms that people tend to listen to music based on their mood–if they are sad they will listen to country or slower songs. However, they are in a happy mood they will listen to more upbeat music. Listening to music has benefits as well. Huffington Post confirms that music helps relieves stress, it can improve sleep, it can help you heal when you are having a problem, and it also helps you through a workout to keep you motivated (Holmes, Lindsay). Not everyone likes the same music, it’s what keeps the world interesting.

I interviewed three people and asked them different questions based on music choice. I chose to interview Alexis Elmore, Victoria Menge, and Carolyn Wood because they all have different personalities, and I had a feeling that their answers would all be different from one another.

Alexis Elmore prefers to listen to rap, and rock & roll, but her least favorite genre of music is country.

Elmore spends most of her time listening to her music in her car jamming out to Post Malone, and her favorite song “I Fall Apart”, also by Post Malone.

On throwback Thursday you can catch Elmore listening to “Dilemma” by Nelly.

In 2017, Elmore voted Post Malone  the best male artist because “he is inspirational because he is not afraid to help out his fans, and because his fans relate to his songs”. She also voted Cardi B is the best female artist because “she’s real and speaks the truth.” On the flip side she voted most annoying song in 2017 to be “Gucci Gang” by Lil Pump.

In 2010, Elmore’s first concert was Trace Adkins.

Victoria Menge’s favorite genre of of music is rap while her least favorite genre of music is rock.

Menge listens to music the most in her room, where she listens to her favorite song “Rockstar” by her favorite artist Post Malone, but some days switches it up and listens to her favorite throwback song “Just a Dream” by Nelly.

Menge said the most annoying song in 2017 is “Look at What You Made Me Do” by Taylor Swift.

In 2009 Menge saw her first concert by Rascal Flatts.

Menge voted that the best female artist of 2017 is Rihanna and the best male artist of 2017 is Post Malone. “Post Malone is fun and makes good music”, Rihanna is my idol because, she is pretty and a lot of money”.

“The best female artist of 2017 is Taylor Swift because I grew up listening to Taylor Swift. I had her first 3 albums and I used to sing “Love Story” every night. Her new songs are phenomenal and she is queen with the red lipstick , and the best male artist of 2017 is Tyler Joseph, the lead singer of Twenty One Pilots, and he creates music that is really aesthetic to the ears. The content is sad but pleasant,” Carolyn Wood stated.

Carolyn agreed with Alexis Elmore and said “Gucci Gang” is the most annoying song in 2017.

Wood’s least favorite genre is country and her favorite genre is ALT. You will find Wood listening to music the most in her car listening to her favorite group Cage the Elephant and her favorite new “Money & Fame” by NEEDTOBREATHE. Although, you might catch her listening to her favorite throwback song “Hollaback Girl” by Gwen Stefani or “Fergalicious” by Fergi.

In 2014, Wood went to see her first concert by Alice Cooper and Def Leppard.
