Jingle Jammin’ into Christmas

Franklin’s newest holiday tradition

The Franklin Burgoo 3-on-3 is a tradition during the Fourth of July. This year the Jingle Jam, just before Christmas, is hoping to duplicate the effect of Franklin Fourth 3-on-3. The Jingle Jam 3-on-3 is put on by the Franklin junior class for a good cause. This year the class is hoping to bring in canned goods for the food pantries. Madden Delaney, the class president, shared her thoughts about helping the needy: “I think Christmas time is a great opportunity to help those in need—everyone is in a giving spirit. I hope that by hosting Jingle Jam we can help people during the holidays.” The team that brings in the most cans can earn a bye in their age division.

Along with bringing in cans, the class hopes to bring in more teams to ensure healthy competition. Class sponsor, Mrs. Willhite, stated, “The class is hoping to make the tournament more competitive by garnering more teams and bringing in more people as a whole.” The tournament is open to grades K-5 from anywhere. There will also be age brackets that are separated by grade levels. The rules are as follows: fifteen-minute time limit, first to ten wins, teams have to win by one, teams start the game by shooting free throws for possession, and it’s “Make it, Take it.” Winning teams will receive stockings filled with goodies. The best-dressed team will also win a prize.

Jingle Jam will take place on December 7 at 10 A.M. in the FHS main gym. Teams can register by emailing [email protected] or calling 217-320-1997. Teams can have a max of five players per team. The entry fee is forty dollars, and checks can be made payable to the Franklin Junior Class.
