Jonathan Morris has been the agriculture teacher at Franklin High School for 35 years. Mr. Morris started his teaching career at Franklin High School in 1983.

In addition to his teaching duties, he is the leader of FFA at Franklin, which is an organization that supports agricultural education.  FFA students attend contests where they compete, complete projects, and keep record books. When asking Mr. Morris what good qualities he has, he jokingly said that his best quality is being a good eater. Still, if you are to ask other students at Franklin High School, they would say that his qualities include always knowing what he is doing from his experience teaching and always being there for students when they are in need of help.

Mr. Morris’s hobbies include boating and playing with their family dog. Unfortunately, Mr. Morris’s teaching career at Franklin is coming to an end and he will be retiring after the 2017-18 school year.  After retiring, Mr. Morris is going to miss the school’s chicken casserole the most–he said it has always been his favorite school lunch dish that they serve.

Being in education for 35 years, Mr. Morris has a plethora of advice to give to those in the teaching profession as well as current and future students. His advice to other teachers is to get their master’s degree early in their career, while his advice to students is to work hard and be organized. He said that the thing he will miss most about coming to school after he retires will be the normal flow of a school day.
